Characters of Eternia

217 characters catalogued, with 174 on-screen appearances curated across the Filmation He-Man and She-Ra series and the cast of the 2026 film listed separately below. An entry appears under an era only when it actually aired in that era. The 200x, New Adventures, Revelation and Revolution casts are still being verified against the on-screen credits.

Browse the cast of Masters of the Universe grouped by faction and era. Every character page carries a bio, first appearance, related characters and a shop shelf for that character's action figures.

How the cast of Eternia is organised

The archive holds 217 characters, and we have organised them the way the property itself was put together: by faction first and by era second. Both of those divisions were decided commercially before a single script existed.

The factions came out of the toy aisle rather than the writers' room. Mattel shipped the first figures in 1982 and split them into the Heroic Warriors and the Evil Warriors, a division that exists so a child can tell at a glance which side of the shelf a figure belongs on. The Evil Horde arrived in 1985 with Hordak, the Snake Men followed under King Hiss, and the Mer-People filled out Eternia's oceans. Filmation's cartoon started a year after the toys and had to take those camps as given. An allegiance almost never shifts across a story, because the packaging had settled it before the writers arrived.

One name can mean very different things depending on where you meet it. Teela in 1983 is the Captain of the Guard and little else; in Revelation, voiced by Sarah Michelle Gellar, she is the lead. Cringer is comic relief on Filmation, and by Revolution he is written as a character rather than a punchline. Each entry below sits under the era it aired in, and every character page then carries that name's full run from 1982 to now.

One thing the credits will not tell you: four actors carried the speaking cast of the 1983 series between them. Alan Oppenheimer had six roles, Skeletor and Man-At-Arms and Cringer among them; Linda Gary had Teela, Evil-Lyn, the Sorceress and Queen Marlena; John Erwin was He-Man and Beast Man both; and Filmation's co-founder Lou Scheimer took sixteen more under the screen name "Erik Gunden", because a union rule capped the billed cast at three voices an episode. The full account, with the credits several fan sites get wrong, is in our voice cast archive. The 2026 film's cast is on the movie cast page.
