Mer-Man is the aquatic member of the original 1982 Evil Warriors lineup. Across continuities he commands marine creatures, can survive both underwater and on land, and serves Skeletor as the principal threat in any Eternian story that takes place on or under the sea.
In the 1982 DC mini-comics Mer-Man appears alongside Skeletor and Beast Man as one of the first three Eternian villains. The 2002 MYP series and Revelation continuation both gave him a more developed backstory as a deposed monarch of an undersea civilization, recasting him from generic monster to fallen-ruler antagonist.
