Masters of the Universe (2026) on 4K, Blu-ray and DVD

Formats and prices at a glance

Prices are the current Amazon preorder listings and can change before release. The 4K Ultra HD edition is the pick for the best picture and usually bundles a Blu-ray disc too.

There is no paid digital edition to buy. The film is a Prime Video exclusive, included free with a membership, and it is not sold or rented on Apple TV, Fandango at Home or Google TV. Checked again on August 14, 2026: the only option on its Prime Video page is Play, included with Prime. That makes the disc the only way to own a copy, the only version that survives the title leaving Prime, the only one carrying the bonus features, and the only one running full Dolby Vision off the disc instead of a compressed stream.

Which edition should you buy?

• Standard 4K / Blu-ray / DVD. The three core retail editions, in the amaray case art shown above.
• Amazon exclusive 4K SteelBook. The collector edition at $46.99. Metal case, both the 4K Ultra HD and Blu-ray discs, plus a collectible mini-comic. Sold only by Amazon in the US. Four more steelbooks exist overseas, in the UK, Germany and France. We compared all five.
• Slipcover edition. A slipcase variant also spotted on early retail listings.

For most collectors the 4K Ultra HD is the one to get: it carries the best picture and generally includes a Blu-ray copy in the same case. Choose the Blu-ray if you do not have a 4K player, the DVD for the budget option, and the steelbook or slipcover if you want the collector packaging.

Bonus features

Amazon MGM and Alliance Home Entertainment have confirmed two special features in the release announcement:

• Behind-The-Scenes Promotional Gallery. Studio promotional material collected on the disc.
• Masters of Light: Skies of Eternia Drone Spectacle. A featurette on the drone show staged for the film's campaign.

Not announced, as of August 14, 2026: a director or cast commentary, deleted scenes, a full making-of documentary, or a gag reel. Releases of this size often add them, but none of the four has been confirmed for this disc and we are not going to pretend otherwise. One further featurette, reported as "Who is He-Man?", has circulated from a June reading of an early retail listing and has never been confirmed by the studio.

Technical specifications

The full disc specs, which most coverage of this release has not published. Confirmed by the Amazon MGM and Alliance Home Entertainment announcement and the blu-ray.com database entry.

One detail worth knowing before you choose a format: the press release names the 4K Ultra HD and Blu-ray as the editions carrying the bonus features. It does not mention the DVD. Retailer listings also show French Canadian and Spanish Latin American 5.1 tracks, but the studio has not confirmed those, so treat them as unconfirmed until it does.

When does it come out?

October 20, 2026. MGM and Alliance have confirmed the street date: Masters of the Universe arrives on 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray and DVD on Tuesday, October 20, 2026, four and a half months after its June 5 theatrical opening and about three months after it began streaming free on Prime Video on July 22. Preorders are open now, and Amazon preorder pricing is locked to the lowest price offered between the day you order and the day it ships.
