Granamyr is the ancient dragon ruler of Darksmoke, presented across the Filmation MOTU run as one of the few non-aligned magical powers Eternia. He is older, wiser, and more powerful than nearly any other character on the show, but his disposition toward humans is unfriendly; he generally agrees to help only when the cost has been made clear and the asker has accepted it.
He appears in four substantial Filmation episodes including The Dragon Invasion (his first appearance), The Dragon’s Gift (the fan-favorite Paul Dini script), and two later returns. The character has been periodically revisited in Classics-line releases and in the 2021 Revelation continuation.
