Tyrannical leader of the Evil Horde and conqueror of Etheria. Skeletor's former master and one-time mentor. Half organic, half machine, with a shape-shifting body that morphs into weapons and vehicles. One of the greatest threats in the MOTU mythos.
Hordak is the supreme commander of the Evil Horde and the conqueror of Etheria. His body is shown across continuities as a combination of organic and mechanical, with a torso whose chest opens to reveal a slot for a small bat companion (Imp), arms that detach and reform as weapons, and the ability to morph parts of his anatomy into vehicles and ranged weapons.
In the 1985 animated film The Secret of the Sword he is presented as the captor of the infant Adora, the architect of Etheria’s subjugation, and Skeletor’s former master. The 2002 MYP continuity expanded his backstory to include his role in transforming Keldor into Skeletor through the demonic ritual that saved Keldor’s life.
The Revelation continuation expanded his role significantly, and the Revolution sequel brings him back as the primary threat after Skeletor’s arcs are concluded. Diedrich Bader’s vocal performance in those Netflix series is regarded as a defining take on the character.
Hordak should not be confused with Hordak Prime (Horde Prime), an even greater Horde leader in some continuities of which Hordak is a clone or lieutenant.
