Official Synopsis sourced from Wiki Grayskull and Wikipedia (CC BY-SA). Composed for heman.org 2026-05-18 Synopsis

Prince Adam is helping Man-At-Arms test his latest invention, the Web Cord. They are succesful during their thirteenth attempt. Teela arrives bearing sad news: Man-At-Arm's mentor, Rohad, is desperately ill and no one knows the cause. Duncan hurries to his side, with Teela and Adam joining him.

They learn from Mitro that Rohad helped to find Mitro's lost grandson in the Tundra Caverns, but was bitten by an insect in the process after which he lost consciousness and turned sickly green. Duncan tells Teela to look after Rohad while he and Adam ask the Sorceress for help. At Grayskull, the Sorceress identifies the insect as a rare, venomous Dauber. The only cure is an herb called Vimward, to be found on top of Mount Zelite. Adam transforms into He-Man and they hurry to the Crystal Mountains by Wind Raider.

During the journey, Man-At-Arms recounts how Rohad saved his life when he was a young man trying to perfect their invention, the Synergetic Time Machine. The Wind Raider is briefly attacked by a Takdryl before it is forced down by a mighty wind swirl. He-Man must make it through the Vine Jungle on foot as fast as possible. Crossing a river, He-Man is attacked by a giant octopus, but uses the Web Cord to escape. He-Man sprints on, then has to cross another river and gets caught in a whirlpool, but escapes. Meanwhile, Man-At-Arms returns to Rohad's side.

Arriving at the Crystal Mountains, He-Man spots a Takdryl caught in the web of a Crybon. Despite his lack of time, He-Man decides to help the Takdryl, and has to face the Crybon himself. He frees the Takdryl and runs on. Soon, he has to jump from one ice cliff to another, but slips and falls. The grateful Takdryl catches He-Man and brings him to the sacred cave of Mount Zelite. He-Man enters and is confronted by the Spirit of Mount Zelite. The ancient spirit tells He-Man to beg, and in order to save another man's life, He-Man complies. He receives a branch of Vimward and hurries back to Rohad's House atop the Takdryl. When they find themselves attacked by a hungry Mandrone, Man-At-Arms' Web Cord comes in handy once again.

He-Man arrives at Rohad's, who is given the cure and quickly begins to recover. He-Man says he wouldn't have made it without the Takdryl's help and apologises to Duncan for losing the Web Cord. Rohad states that he's never known an invention that couldn't be made again, and Man-At-Arms concurs it will probably be improved upon when remade. He then tells his old friend and mentor to rest and recuperate. Finally, Duncan thanks his dear friend He-Man, who replies "That's what friends are for".

Morals by He-Man closing message, original Filmation broadcast

**Teela:** "Today Man-At-Arms and He-Man showed us the true meaning of friendship. When Rohad was sick, Man-At-Arms rushed to his side and did everything in his power to help and He-Man risked his life to assist Man-At-Arms. How would you like to have a friend who will be there to take care of you when you're sick? Who will see you through bad times as well as good? Well, most of you have. They're your two best friends: your mother and your father."

Notes of Interest

  1. Behind the scenes: Script was approved June 13, 1983 and final script revision took place June 21, 1983. The dragon like Takdryl is a reuse of Warlock from the 1981 Filmation cartoon series Blackstar, colored red. In his storyboards, Michael Swanigan suggested that the character design of Balkar from Filmations Blackstar could be reused to serve as Mitro's character model.
  2. Continuity: The animation model of the octopus will be used again in Trouble in Trolla and the She-Ra: Princess of Power episode Friendship. He-Man's dive into the water was previously seen in Wizard of Stone Mountain. The animated sequence of He-Man swinging on vines and flipping over a large branch was based on a piece of animation from Filmations Tarzan, Lord of the Jungle and will be seen again in Capture the Comet Keeper.

A plague-and-cure quest script. The premise lets the writers explore Eternia’s medical and magical infrastructure in a way the show usually skipped.
