Pop Culture Shock Collectibles, the Los Angeles studio that built its reputation on Street Fighter, Mortal Kombat, and Power Rangers statues across the late 2000s and early 2010s, brought the same approach to Masters of the Universe in 2013. The He-Man 1/4 scale was the lead-off piece in what was planned as a complete Eternia line.
At 1/4 scale, the statue is large. Roughly 56 cm to the top of the raised sword, on a sculpted Eternia rock base with the Cringer-tiger pattern hinted in the stone at the front. The sculpt blends Filmation-era model proportions with a more idealised muscular build: shoulders wider than the cartoon, abdomen tighter, but the face is unmistakably Filmation He-Man with the broad jaw and the wide-set eyes. Two swappable portraits ship in the box: a standard heroic face and an angry battle face with mouth open.
The piece is one of the few high-end MOTU statues to integrate LED lighting. The Power Sword has an internal LED that runs the length of the blade and emits a soft white glow when the base battery pack is switched on. The base itself has a second LED that uplights the figure with a faint blue gradient. Both circuits run on three AA batteries housed in a hidden compartment under the base.
Edition size was limited to 500 pieces worldwide. MSRP at launch was $899.99 through Sideshow Collectibles, Big Bad Toy Store, and the Pop Culture Shock direct storefront. A second edition with slight paint variations (slightly darker skin tone, slightly warmer sword glow) was released in 2015 in an additional 200-piece run at the same MSRP.
The first-edition He-Man is the secondary-market trophy. Recent eBay sales have closed between $1,800 and $2,400 for in-box examples with both portraits and intact LED function. The second edition runs slightly lower at $1,400 to $1,800. Both editions appreciate steadily; the limited run plus the LED feature plus the strong sculpt have aged well.
PCS followed with Skeletor (reviewed separately) and a planned Beast Man that was announced in 2015 but never reached production after the studio shifted focus to its NECA-licensed lines.
