About the archive

Four decades, one continuous line.

Masters of the Universe has been on toy shelves almost continuously since 1982. It starts with Mattel's vintage line, the barrel-chested 5.5 inch figures that ran to 1987, and its sister line Princess of Power. It carries on through New Adventures at the turn of the nineties, the stylised 200X relaunch, the collector-direct MOTU Classics subscription era, and lands on what is on shelves today: Origins in the vintage 5.5 inch format, Masterverse at 7 inch, and the 2026 movie line.

Mattel is not the whole story. Super7 held the licence for the cartoon-accurate Club Grayskull and ULTIMATES figures, Mondo makes the 1/6 scale pieces, and Iron Studios, Tweeterhead and Hot Toys cover the statue and high-end end of the shelf. Every entry here carries box art, the wave it shipped in, MSRP, its accessory loadout and a current buy path. Pricing and stock come from retailer catalogues and are re-checked on each rebuild, so treat the figures on this page as a snapshot rather than a live till.

Common questions

What was the first Masters of the Universe toy line?
Mattel's original line, launched in 1982 and running to 1987. Its 79 vintage entries are catalogued here alongside the He-Man and the Masters of the Universe cartoon that sold them.
Which MOTU lines are still in production?
Origins, Masterverse and the 2026 movie line from Mattel, plus Battleground from Archon and statues from Iron Studios and Tweeterhead. 461 items in this archive are currently on pre-order or in stock somewhere, and they are the ones on the shelf at the top of this page.
How do Origins and Masterverse differ?
Scale and intent. Origins is the 5.5 inch retro format built to sit next to a 1982 figure, with the same rubber-band waist articulation. Masterverse is 7 inch and modern-articulated, drawing on Revelation, Revolution and New Eternia rather than the vintage toy aesthetic.
Does this archive cover more than figures?
Yes. Vehicles and playsets sit inside their line's shelf, and there are separate shelves for apparel, books and art, homeware and games. Statues and busts are grouped under Statues and replicas above.
