The last trailer before opening night gives us the clearest look yet at Jared Leto as Skeletor and the first proper live-action shot of Snake Mountain. Three minutes of footage and Eternia has never felt this big.
Amazon MGM dropped the final trailer for Masters of the Universe last night and it does what a final trailer is supposed to do. It shows up, it stops messing around, and it puts the villain front and centre.
Three minutes of footage. Skeletor on screen for what feels like a third of it. The Power Sword’s final assembly. A first wide shot of Snake Mountain that fans are already screen-grabbing frame by frame. The whole thing closes on He-Man’s transformation in a wash of gold light that lands exactly the way it has to.
Jared Leto’s Skeletor
The casting was the part of this production that drew the most heat when it was announced. The trailer answers some of it. Leto has the cadence down. The makeup work is heavier than the early production stills suggested and the voice is closer to Alan Oppenheimer than to anything Leto has done before. We will reserve final judgement for the picture, but on a first pass the read is positive.
Snake Mountain in live action
Travis Knight told SlashFilm and Screen Rant in the run-up that Snake Mountain would get its live-action debut in this picture and the trailer confirms it. We see it from a distance in a wide establishing shot. We see it close up at the climax. Production designer’s notes from the press kit describe a practical exterior augmented with virtual production for the wider geography of Eternia.
