Mattel has put Castle Grayskull and Snake Mountain in the same box, hinged down the middle, and the two shops that have it in stock this weekend are fifteen dollars apart on the price.
Amazon has the Masters of the Universe (2026) Battle for Eternia Playset at $79.99, in stock, shipped and sold by Amazon rather than by a marketplace seller, with a live add to cart on the evening of September 6. BigBadToyStore has the same playset in stock at $94.99, also add to cart, no sale badge on it [1]. ToyHype USA spotted the Amazon price this afternoon and we went and read both listings.
What is in the box
Both listings run the same Mattel copy, so this is one product and not two similar ones. It folds open to twenty seven inches wide and stands fourteen high, with Castle Grayskull on one side and Snake Mountain on the other, and it separates into two halves if you would rather set them at opposite ends of a shelf. The jawbridge opens and closes. There is an elevator, a zipline, a weapon rack, and a lock up that holds a figure.
Three things come out of the set. Snake Mountain carries an Evil Bone Throne that lifts out, Castle Grayskull carries a Sword Altar that Mattel calls movie accurate and that holds the included Power Sword, and the box contains a Golden Armor Skeletor that both retailers describe as exclusive to it. Five weapon accessories come with it. Assembly is required and it is rated six and up.
Castle Grayskull in 1983, Snake Mountain in 1984
The two fortresses reached the vintage line a year apart, and our own catalogue dates the Castle Grayskull playset to 1983 and Snake Mountain to 1984. Forty odd years later they arrive hinged to each other for eighty dollars, moulded to the 2026 film designs instead of the 1983 ones.
Everything else in the current range is a five and a half inch figure in the ten to twenty two dollar band, as our own Shop the Movie rail shows. This one opens to twenty seven. It is also the piece where the two shops are furthest apart!
Neither price is the number you pay
Amazon shows the $79.99 as seven percent off what it calls a typical price of $85.99, not off the $94.99 that BigBadToyStore is holding [2]. So the gap between the two shops is real, but the size of the discount depends on which number you treat as the list price.
BigBadToyStore flags the playset as an oversized item. Its page carries the usual six dollar flat rate line for United States orders and then a shipping disclaimer saying that on this one the cost is calculated on dimensional weight rather than actual weight, that it may not ship to every location, and that customer service will get in touch if special arrangements are needed. Read that line before you treat either price as the finished total.
Both are in stock, and neither is a pre-order. The two Origins movie figures Target is carrying are, and Skeletor’s have already sold out.
