Lakeshore Records is putting out a Deluxe Edition of the Masters of the Universe soundtrack this Friday, August 14, as a digital release. It carries Daniel Pemberton’s expanded score for the film, 55 tracks in all, including music that was not on the album Lakeshore released in June.
Brian May is the featured electric guitar soloist on several cues, and The Darkness contributed the title song, co-written with Pemberton. May’s name sits on nine of the 55 tracks, among them Eternia, Folding Space (Eternia), The Power of Grayskull, The Sword of Power, Return to Eternia and a cue billed as He-Man (Brian May Version). The Darkness appear on three, including the end-credits version of the title song.
The Legend of Eternia closes the album. That is the standalone single Lakeshore put out last week, which arrived on the streaming services on its own ahead of this release, and it is credited to May, Pemberton and The Darkness together. The title song itself, the piece The Darkness recorded for the film, sits five tracks earlier.
The rest of the list reads as a run through the picture in order, from Young Adam and The Battle for Eternos through Man-At-Arms vs Trap-Jaw, Comic Store Heist, Journey to Snake Mountain and Skeletor vs He-Man. There is a cue called Adora near the end. Run times are short across the board, with only a handful of tracks over four minutes and Sky Fight the longest at 5:48.
The film is streaming on Prime Video now. The 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray and DVD editions are dated for October 20.
