About This Release
Mattel’s San Diego Comic-Con 2026 exclusive is a Skeletor with dumbbells, a barbell and his own gym towel, pulled straight from the strangest scene in the new movie. The figure is based on a look from the mind-meld attack sequence in the 2026 Masters of the Universe film, the moment where Skeletor invades Adam’s head and menaces our hero in, as Mattel’s own copy puts it, “an unexpected new way.” Mattel leans into the bit hard: “Do you even lift, He-Man?” is the official tagline.
What You Actually Get for $50
Beneath the joke is a legitimately well-specced collector figure. Gym Bro Skeletor is a 6-inch scale release with 32 points of articulation, which Mattel says is there so you can “recreate your favorite musclebound poses.” The accessory list is where it gets fun: two dumbbells with real metal accents, one barbell, a custom gym towel and interchangeable hands. The window-box packaging is designed so the figure can be displayed in multiple poses inside the box, and a few of those poses are printed right on the packaging as suggestions.
The release plan follows the now-familiar SDCC pattern: he launches on Mattel Creations on July 23, 2026 at 9:00 am PT for $50, timed to the convention. As always with these, colors and decorations may vary, and purchase limits are at Mattel’s discretion, so expect the usual scramble at the top of the hour.
Not a One-Off: the Gym Bro Merch Wave
On June 29, Mattel Creations announced a full slate of Gym Bro Skeletor merchandise: clothing, towels, posters and tumblers. A character variant that exists for roughly one scene of the film is getting the kind of merchandising push normally reserved for main-line heroes.
He is not even the only scene-specific Skeletor in the pipeline. On July 1, official photos surfaced of a “Dream Date” Skeletor, drawn from another sequence in the movie where Skeletor invades a dream. Release details for that one are still unannounced.
