Eighteen days out from wide release, Amazon MGM rolls out the gold carpet for the world premiere of Masters of the Universe. Nicholas Galitzine, Camila Mendes, and Jared Leto lead a Hollywood arrival that fans have been waiting forty years to see.
Tonight the gold carpet rolls out at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood for the world premiere of Masters of the Universe. After more than a decade of false starts, scrapped scripts, and the kind of pre-production drama that would humble a Sorceress, director Travis Knight is finally bringing Eternia to the big screen on his own terms.
Amazon MGM Studios is handling the domestic rollout. Sony Pictures Releasing International takes the picture wide outside North America. The film opens everywhere on June 5, 2026.
Who is showing up
Nicholas Galitzine walks the carpet as Prince Adam and He-Man. The actor spent months in the gym and a longer stretch in sword work to land the transformation sequences. Camila Mendes plays Teela, captain of the Eternian royal guard. Jared Leto fronts the villain line as Skeletor.
Travis Knight has been steady on the press circuit since CinemaCon and has hit the same beat every time: this is not the 1987 picture. It is the Filmation cartoon, the toy line, and the Mike Young Productions design DNA all blended into something built for a 2026 audience that grew up on the property.
What this means for the wider universe
Knight has hinted at sequel plans in interviews if the picture lands. Amazon MGM has not greenlit a follow-up yet. The studio’s posture has been a wait-and-see one keyed to the opening weekend. Fans showing up on June 5 are voting with their tickets.
We will be covering reactions out of the premiere through the night and posting impressions to the front page as they land. Stay tuned to the channel.
