The 2002 series has never been on Blu-ray. Not here, not in Germany, not anywhere. This morning PLAION Pictures opened preorders on its own shop for He-Man and the Masters of the Universe (2002), Volume 1, two discs, 31,99 EUR, with the release date on the listing given as 24 September 2026.
We have been waiting on this one a very long time, and it is finally real! PLAION teased a 200X disc back in March 2025 and then went quiet for about eighteen months. The date is the news here, not the release. The listing is live right now and the button says add to cart, not notify me.
What the listing actually says
Running time is given as about 408 minutes across two discs, in the original 1.33:1 framing rather than a cropped widescreen master. Audio is DTS-HD Master Audio 2.0 in German and English, so the original voice cast is on there. Subtitles are German only. Worth knowing before you order.

PLAION’s copy calls this the first season. The listing prints no episode count, which is the one number we all want and the one number it does not give, and 408 minutes does not obviously stretch to a full 26 episode season at broadcast length. So either the season is split differently than you would guess, or Volume 2 carries more of it than the wording implies. I am not going to guess which. There is no Volume 2 on the shop yet. That one stays open.
The listing does not state a region code either. PLAION’s 1983 Filmation sets are Region B, and this is a German release for a German market, so we would treat it as Region B until PLAION says otherwise. If your player is region locked, sort that out before the money leaves your account (ask me how I know).

The extras are the reason to care
Here it stops being a routine catalogue dump. PLAION has put an interview with Mattel’s toy designers on here, plus a featurette called The World of He-Man, a behind the scenes piece shot in the recording studio, audio commentaries and video commentaries, and storyboards. There is a Guide to Eternia booklet in the package too, listed at 36 pages, carrying an interview and an episode guide.

A toy designer interview on a cartoon disc is unusual. For our show it is exactly right! The 2002 series and the 200X toyline were designed alongside each other by many of the same people. Our show looks the way it does because the figures did first. Anyone who has read our King Hsss or Trap Jaw 200X entries already knows how much of that redesign started on a toy sculptor’s desk.
Where it sits on PLAION’s shelf
For scale, PLAION’s two 1983 Filmation sets are five discs each at 39,99 EUR, currently discounted to 34,99. The He-Man and She-Ra Eternia Collection is twenty discs at 129,99. Revelation is two discs at 34,99. So 31,99 for two discs of 200X sits at the top of the per disc range on that shop. The extras package is what we are paying for.
The cover art deserves a look on its own, and we are glad they went big on it. It is a proper ensemble piece. He-Man has the sword up in front of Castle Grayskull, Stratos banks in from the top right, and Orko, Teela, Man-At-Arms and Ram Man fill the bottom edge (the artist signed it in the corner, which we always like to see). Nobody phoned that in.
