San Diego Comic-Con 2026 opened its doors today with Mattel’s massive Masters of the Universe booth installation dominating Hall H. Anchored by a sculpted Castle Grayskull facade entrance with life-size He-Man and Skeletor statues standing guard, the booth revealed an ambitious slate of new collectibles across the Chronicles and Origins lines, setting the tone for the second half of 2026’s MOTU product year.
MOTU Chronicles got the spotlight treatment with five major reveals. Clawful joins the lineup with a heavily textured pincer claw and crustacean-inspired detailing across the armor and tail sculpting. Mer-Man brings full amphibian treatment - webbed fin pieces on the arms, a beaked head sculpt with spiny crest, and splayed toes with webbing between them. Mekaneck features the signature extending segmented neck with ribbed detailing and technical armor sculpting across the chest and shoulders. Goat Man makes his debut as a horned, hooved bestial warrior carrying a double-bladed axe. And Panthor commands attention as an oversized black cat mount with armor saddle, snarling open mouth with individual fangs, and layered fin-shaped plates running along the spine.
The booth also debuted a brand new MOTU Origins line paying homage to vintage figures while introducing a fresh aesthetic. The lineup includes He-Man, Battle Armor He-Man, Skeletor, Faker, Beast Man, Trap Jaw, Man-at-Arms, Mer-Man, Man-E-Faces, Zodac, Stratos, and Faker Teela. The collectibility hook: Mattel worked a build-a-figure mechanic into the wave (Shadow Beast), adding a chase element not previously seen in Origins.
Supporting displays showed off sculpted dioramas of Castle Grayskull and Snake Mountain packed with figures, MOTU Chronicles attack vehicles with beast-mouth nosecone detailing, full-scale Power Sword and Havoc Staff replicas, and an Evil-Lyn film costume on mannequin inside glass display. The Gym Bro Skeletor display pedestal featured 3D sculpted barbells protruding from the panel - exactly the kind of weird collectibility energy SDCC booths live for.
Mattel’s event schedule runs through Saturday (July 25) with book signings, storytelling panels in Hall 6A, design discussions at the booth, and a Skeletor cosplay pose-off.
