Where to watch: our always-updated Where to Watch Masters of the Universe (2026) guide has the full breakdown of how, when and where to stream the film at home.

The plan for watching Masters of the Universe at home has changed, and it is good news for Prime members. Rather than the paid Digital HD rental everyone expected around July 21, Amazon has confirmed the film comes to Prime Video on July 22 to stream free with a Prime membership. It is a Prime Video exclusive, so there is no rental or purchase step for members: if you have Prime, you can simply press play.

That is a real shift from where things stood a few weeks ago, when the expectation was a premium video on demand window (a one time rental or purchase) followed by free streaming months later. Amazon MGM has instead sent the film straight to its subscription service, the same play it has used for other 2026 releases. For fans who were bracing to pay to see it again, it is now included at no extra cost.

On timing, Amazon has confirmed the July 22 date but not an exact minute. Prime Video usually unlocks its new movies at 12:00 AM Pacific on the listed date, which is 3:00 AM Eastern on the 22nd, around 8:00 AM in the UK and early evening in New Zealand. Prime is not perfectly consistent though, and a portion of its titles instead go live at midnight GMT, which would put it up the evening of July 21 in the United States. Either way, expect it live in the small hours of July 22, and possibly the night of the 21st.

Collectors are covered too: a 4K UHD and Blu-ray release is already up for preorder on Amazon for anyone who wants to own a physical copy rather than stream it.
