Mattel Press has revealed the first pages of “Skeletor Ate My Homework (The Adventures of He-Man and Porter #1),” a new all-original middle-grade novel written by Stephan Pastis with illustrations by Will Henry. ComicBook.com published an exclusive preview of the opening chapters on June 23, 2026. The book goes on sale September 1 and will retail for 14.99 dollars.
The story follows Porter Avery, an ordinary boy from Fort Lauderdale, Florida, who loves playing with his Masters of the Universe action figures. A “magical malfunction” pulls Porter out of his attic and into Eternia, where he meets He-Man, Skeletor, and the rest of the Heroic Warriors in the middle of a battle for the planet. King Randor is shown assembling a defense plan with Orko and the Royal Guard, unaware that his son Adam is secretly He-Man, a thread the publisher says plays into the larger plot. Porter’s own arc centers on tension with his father as both of them grieve the loss of Porter’s mother.
This is a standalone publishing tie-in rather than a movie or comics continuity release. It sits alongside Dark Horse’s ongoing “He-Man and the Masters of the Universe” series and the upcoming “Masters of the Universe: Genesis” origin comic, part of a broader Mattel publishing push that has continued through the summer as the 2026 live-action film’s theatrical run winds down.
