Amazon MGM’s official Masters of the Universe account posted a teaser clip on June 9 that finally shows Dolph Lundgren’s cameo in the new film. Lundgren, who played He-Man in Cannon’s 1987 Masters of the Universe, appears opposite Nicholas Galitzine’s Prince Adam. ComingSoon and SuperHeroHype wrote up the clip on June 11.
In the scene, Lundgren’s character gives Adam advice about believing in himself and caring less about appearances, then leaves him with the line “Good journey,” a phrase longtime fans will recognize from the 1987 movie. The studio had confirmed Lundgren’s involvement back in May, but the teaser is the first public look at how the moment plays out.
Galitzine told Men’s Journal that the cameo came from his own suggestion during production. He recalled telling director Travis Knight, “Wouldn’t it be amazing if we could get Dolph in the movie.” Galitzine said sharing the screen with the original He-Man and getting his blessing meant “an incredible amount,” while Lundgren described it as a form of “passing the torch.”
The clip arrives as Masters of the Universe works through its first full week in theaters. The film opened June 5 from Amazon MGM Studios in North America and Sony Pictures Releasing International elsewhere, with Galitzine as He-Man, Jared Leto as Skeletor, Camila Mendes as Teela and Idris Elba as Man-At-Arms, directed by Travis Knight.
