Director Travis Knight has signaled that Skeletor is meant to outlast his apparent on-screen death in Masters of the Universe. In an interview with TechRadar, reported June 8 by CBR, Knight said “you haven’t seen the last of Skeletor, that’s all I’ll say about that.” He did not elaborate on how or when the character would come back.
In the film, Jared Leto’s Skeletor seizes Eternia in pursuit of the Power of Grayskull before He-Man, played by Nicholas Galitzine, defeats him in a duel at Castle Grayskull. The surge of power destroys most of the villain, leaving only his skull behind. The final post-credits scene then shows Alison Brie’s Evil-Lyn returning to collect that skull, with Skeletor’s laugh echoing over a black screen.
Knight’s comment ties the franchise’s stated plans to that tag. In the source animated continuity Skeletor has died and returned more than once, including hiding his life essence inside Evil-Lyn’s staff, which gives a possible sequel a built-in path to bring him back.
The remarks land against a difficult commercial backdrop. Masters of the Universe opened second worldwide with about 54 million dollars globally against a budget reported near 200 million, so any continuation Knight is teasing would depend on the film’s longer theatrical and streaming performance.
