Amazon MGM Studios and Sony Pictures released a behind-the-scenes featurette titled “Becoming He-Man” on May 28, focused on what it took for Nicholas Galitzine to play Prince Adam and his alter ego in the live-action Masters of the Universe. The piece is part of a wave of late marketing material landing in the final stretch before the film opens.
The featurette frames Galitzine’s physical transformation and the build of the character for the screen. It arrives alongside a companion featurette, “Travis Knight: The Master of MOTU,” that turns the focus on the director’s approach to adapting the franchise.
Directed by Travis Knight (Kubo and the Two Strings, Bumblebee), the film populates Eternia with a cast that includes Camila Mendes as Teela, Jared Leto as Skeletor, Idris Elba as Duncan / Man-At-Arms, Alison Brie, Morena Baccarin, James Purefoy, Johannes Haukur Johannesson and Kristen Wiig. The story follows Prince Adam, separated from Eternia for 15 years, who returns after the Sword of Power leads him home to find his world under Skeletor’s rule.
The release timing matters because the featurettes are stacking up in the same window as the film’s global premiere tour and presale ticket launch. Masters of the Universe opens June 3 in the UK and June 5 in the US.
