British voice actor Gary Martin has confirmed he provides the voice of Beast Man in Travis Knight’s Masters of the Universe, splitting the role with motion-capture performer James Unsworth, who handled the physical performance on set. The split is the same approach the production used for several of its larger creature characters, anchoring the body performance with a mocap specialist and dubbing the vocal track in post with a dedicated voice actor.
Martin is a long-running fixture of British voice work, with screen credits including the Frank Oz remake of Little Shop of Horrors (1986) and Guillermo del Toro’s Hellboy II: The Golden Army (2008). Unsworth’s recent on-set credits include Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning, where he worked in the stunt and performance-capture department.
Beast Man, one of Skeletor’s original lieutenants in the 1982 Mattel toy line, has been voiced across decades of MOTU media by John Erwin (1983 Filmation series), Tom Kane (2002 series and Masters of the Universe: Revelation), and Kevin Michael Richardson (the 2021 Netflix CG series). Martin now joins that lineage.
The casting confirmation rounds out the public record on the film’s secondary villain lineup ahead of the June 5 U.S. theatrical release.
