Teela is the closest thing Filmation MOTU has to a co-protagonist. She fights more often than Man-At-Arms. She gets more spotlights than Orko. She’s the canonical love interest for Adam (though the show never delivers on it). She is the unwitting daughter of the Sorceress. And she is, across the run, the character whose interior life is most consistently treated as if it mattered. The 2002 MYP series made the parentage explicit. The 2021 Revelation continuation made Teela the show’s true co-lead — Sarah Michelle Gellar’s vocal performance and Marc Bernardin’s writing turned Teela from supporting character into central figure. The Filmation run laid the groundwork. Linda Gary’s vocal work in those original 130 episodes is one of the most under-credited animation performances of the 1980s.
